COVINGTON CITY COUNCIL
Proposed Vacation of Undeveloped Public Right-of-Way
Tuesday, March 10, 2026 At 6:30 PM
Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Covington, Virginia will conduct a Public Hearing pursuant to § 15.2-2006 of the Code of Virginia (1950, as amended) on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 6:30 PM in the Council Chambers of City Hall, located at 333 West Locust
Street, Covington, Virginia.
This notice shall be published once a week for two successive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Covington with the first notice appearing no more than 28 days before and the second notice appearing no less than seven days before the hearing.
The meeting is to consider vacating certain undeveloped public rights-of-way pursuant to § 15.2-2006 of the Code of Virginia. The proposed vacation involves portions of undeveloped public right-of-way, including areas of E. Sycamore Street and an original 15-foot alley, located at and adjacent to the former Rivermont School property, for purposes related to the Rivermont redevelopment project.
All interested persons are invited to appear and present their views.
The plat and supporting materials showing the areas proposed for vacation are available for public inspection in the Office of the Building and Zoning Administrator, Eric Tyree, at (540) 965-6357.
The City of Covington is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Notice is hereby given that a Closed Meeting of the Council of the City of Covington, Virginia, will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, immediately following the regular City Council meeting. Meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 333 West Locust Street, Covington VA, 24426.
The purpose of the meeting is:

Discussion and evaluation of City Council appointed personnel.

To consider and take such action as may be necessary and proper in connection with the foregoing.
This notice is provided pursuant to applicable provisions of the Code of Virginia.
