City Council Districts & Voting Information

The City of Covington is divided into five electoral districts for representation on City Council. This page provides information to help residents identify their Council district, locate their Election Day polling place, review the official legal descriptions of district boundaries, and access voter registration and election resources.

Map Information: The district map is provided as a visual reference. The official legal boundaries of each electoral district are established by the City of Covington Code of Ordinances. Each of the City's five electoral districts has an assigned Election Day polling place. Use the information below to identify the polling location associated with your district.

Polling locations and election information may be subject to change. Residents are encouraged to confirm current voting information with the City of Covington Registrar's Office before Election Day.

Official Electoral District Descriptions

The official boundaries of Covington's five electoral districts are established in Chapter 16, Article II – Electoral Districts of the City of Covington Code of Ordinances.

The legal descriptions establish the precise boundaries for Districts 1 through 5 using streets, waterways, railroad lines, Interstate 64, and the corporate limits of the City.

The maps on this page are intended to make the districts easier to understand visually. When a precise boundary determination is needed, the written descriptions contained in the City Code are the official reference.

Permanent Central Absentee Precinct

In addition to the City's five electoral districts, the City of Covington has established a permanent Central Absentee Precinct to be used for all elections.

The Central Absentee Precinct is located in the City of Covington Registrar's Office at the former Jeter-Watson Intermediate School building:

The City Code establishes the permanent Central Absentee Precinct as follows:

There is hereby established a permanent central absentee precinct to be used for all elections. The polling place for such precinct shall be located in the Registrar's Office at the former Jeter-Watson Intermediate School building, 515 East Pine Street. Such central absentee precinct shall be operated as provided in Code of Virginia, § 24.2-712, as amended.

The Central Absentee Precinct is separate from the five City Council electoral districts shown on the maps above. Residents should contact the Registrar's Office for current information concerning absentee voting, early voting, Election Day voting, or other election procedures.
