Pearson’s Appraisal Service, Inc., has completed the fieldwork for the City of Covington 2023 General Reassessment of real estate, which will become effective on July 1, 2023. The Code of Virginia mandates that each locality periodically performs a general reassessment of real estate to determine each property’s fair market value and to equalize each property’s value in relation to similar properties.

The reassessment notices were mailed on May 22, 2023, to all real estate property owners in the City of Covington. The notice will show you the new reassessment value for Fiscal Year 2023/2024 and the amount of tax at the current tax rate. The new tax rate has not been established and a public hearing will be held after July 1, 2023, to discuss the tax rate.
