The City of Covington has recently upgraded our emergency and non-emergency communication system. This upgrade has made the City’s Kenwood legacy radio equipment obsolete and is considered as surplus personal property.

Per City Code Section 2-7, (b) The city manager may dispose of such surplus personal property by public sale or auction, including online public auction, as set forth in Code of Virginia § 15.2-951.

The City of Covington is advertising a public sale for the surplus radio equipment. The sale will be for all of the equipment in bulk and there will be no negotiation for individual items. Interested candidates can bid for the bulk sale of this equipment in writing, by contacting Christopher Smith, Director of Public Safety by Fax (540) 965-6331 or email csmith@covington.va.us. The public auction will start on Monday, July 31, 2023 and will close on Monday, August, 14, 2023 at 5pm.  Once the auction is completed the equipment can be picked up at the storage location in the City or can be shipped at purchasers cost. Questions about the public auction can be directed to Christopher Smith (540) 965-6336.

A detailed list of the available items can be viewed here or Gov Deals.
